Land Securities is funding a new public art installation along Christ's Lane. The main aim of involving artists within the development is to create artists’ interventions of quality and relevance, contributing to a distinctive new area in the centre of Cambridge, surrounded by historic colleges. The new installation will further-enhance residents and visitors enjoyment of the reopened Christ's Lane.
Specialist art consultants InSite Arts were appointed to develop the strategy for the commissioning, and to work to support the artist and assist in the effective delivery of the commissioned work.
To gain a broad picture of the development, its context and the commissioning opportunities within it, InSite Arts worked closely with the architects, landscape architects, Cambridge City Council arts development officer and planners, Eastern Arts and Land Securities.
Through a process of competitive interviews, Jane Watt was the artist appointed from a choice of four.
